How do you tell if your about to get a coldsore?
AHHH im so mad, my friend came over this weekend and we both have the same kind of lipgloss and she has a coldsore. I noticed on my lip that its a bit redish in one area. Im not sure if its a coldsore but im freaking out because ive never had one and i heard once you get them, you have them for life. IS there any way i can prevent this from turning into a coldsore... BUt yea my main questions are
1) how long do they last
2) how can you get rid of them
3) what are the sigs you might be getting one
You would know your getting one by the symptoms you would have.You usually get some burning, tingling itching symptoms at one spot around your lips, but if it's a mild out break you may not experience these symptoms very much. Some times the skin at the site of the symptoms can be come dry or chapped. Then a small blister appears which could break out into a fever blister or cold sore.
Once you have them you will have the cold sore virus for life. You may get one out break then never have another, or you could get them intermitantly through out your life.
Cold sores usually last about a week or two depending on severity. They are contagious so DON'T kiss or give any one oral sex while you have a sore, wait until it completely goes away.
You can get rid of them by using Abreva or Lipactin, diluted 3 percent hydrogen peroxide works too. You can get rid of the sores but you will have the virus for life.
